This study aimed to control different populations of Digitaria insularisby glyphosate herbicide, isolated and mixed, besides the combination of methods (chemical and mechanical) to manage resistant adult plants. Three experiments were conducted, one in pots which were maintained under non-controlled conditions and two under field conditions. In the experiment in pots, twelve populations of D. insularis were sprayed with isolated glyphosate (1.44 and 2.16 kg a.e. ha-1) and mixed (1.44 and 2.16 kg a.e. ha-1) with quizalofop-p tefuryl (0.12 kg i.a. ha-1). The treatment of 1.44 kg a.e. ha-1 of glyphosate plus 0.12 kg a.i. ha-1 of quizalofop was sufficient for adequate control (>95%) of all populations. Population 11 (area of grain production in Itumbiara,... |

ABSTRACT The control of morning glory (Ipomoea spp. and Merremia aegyptia) was evaluated in five commercial sugarcane-production fields receiving applications of the herbicides sulfentrazone (0.9 kg ha-1), amicarbazone (1.4 kg ha-1), imazapic (0.147 kg ha-1), and hexazinone + tebuthiuron (0.325 + 0.75 kg ha-1) applied pre-emergence in either the dry season (July and August) or in the semi-wet season (early October); mesotrione alone (0.192 kg ha-1) or in combination (0.12 kg ha-1) with atrazine (1.5 kg ha-1) or diuron + hexazinone (0.491 + 0.139 kg ha-1) applied post-emergence in the wet season (November), and the phytointoxication of the chemical treatments for sugarcane. ABSTRACT: In Brazil, in agricultural areas where there is no establishment of cover crops in the off season, as well as in citrus orchards in the state of São Paulo, an increase in the infestation of Chloris elata has been observed. This is a perennial species, propagated by seeds and short rhizomes, erect and slightly caespitose. With the objective of evaluating the growth and development of plants from two accessions of C. elata, a greenhouse experiment was conducted. The experimental design was completely randomized, in a 2 (accessions of C. elata) x 15 (evaluation periods) factorial arrangement, with four replications. Fifteen destructive evaluations were performed 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 112 and 126 days after sowing (DAS)... |

Due to the large amount of pesticides applied in agriculture, mainly herbicides, there is a growing concern about a possible environmental contamination with these products, including water bodies. Given the above, the aim of the present work was to detect and quantify herbicides through multiresidue analysis in water samples collected in semi-artesian wells and springs in a rural area of the city of Jaboticabal (SP). Samples were collected from 32 wells and 13 water springs, in three different seasons: October 2010, February 2011 and May 2011. Additionally, samples at a residence in the urban area were also collected. Analysis using high performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry was performed and herbicides ametryn, amicarbazone,... |

ABSTRACT: In agricultural areas of Brazil, where there is no establishment of cover crops in the off-season and in fruit orchards, an increase in Chloris elata infestations, syn. Chloris polydactyla, has been observed. With the purpose to evaluate the response of three populations (Itaberaí - GO, Matão - SP e Jaboticabal - SP) of C. elata to herbicides sprayed before and after emergence, four experiments were conducted. In the first one, the differential tolerance of three C. elata populations to the herbicide glyphosate (0, 0.18, 0.36, 0.72, 0.96, 1.44, 2.88, 5.76 and 11.52 kg a.e. ha-1) was studied. In the other experiments, the control of the three populations by herbicides applied in pre-emergence (clomazone, diclosulam, flumioxazin, isoxaflutole,... |

ABSTRACT The objective was to study the selectivity of herbicides bentazon and nicosulfuron, alone and in a mixture, to Crotalaria juncea, when established in intercropping with maize, as well as weed control and maize development in this production system. Two experiments were conducted in the field, in late harvest and in harvest periods. The experimental design was a randomized block, with 14 treatments and four replicates. Eight treatments with herbicides bentazon (720 and 960 g a.i. ha-1), nicosulfuron (16 and 48 g a.i. ha-1) and bentazon plus nicosulfuron (720 + 16; 720 + 48; 960 + 16; 960 + 48 g a.i. ha-1) were studied, besides six controls (single crop maize and sunn hemp, with and without weed control, intercropped maize and sunn hemp, with and... |

ABSTRACT Among the herbicides registered for carrot crop in Brazil, linuron is the most used one, according to horticulturists. However, there are few reports in the literature on its selectivity for the carrot plants. Therefore, the aim of this work is to study the selectivity of linuron herbicide for growing carrots, influenced by genotype, product dosing, and plant development phase at the time of application. This work included four experiments, one in greenhouse, and three in the field, in area of commercial carrot production. In the greenhouse, the experimental design was completely randomized in factorial scheme 4 x 2 x 3, with four replications. Linuron, at doses 0, 225, 450 and 675 g a.i. ha-1 was sprayed in plants with 1 and 2-3 true leaves of... |
